About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society. The department supports a culture of leadership, learning and renewal in all workplaces with opportunities for career development and advancement.
About the Division
The School Compliance Branch sits within the department's Operational Policy, School Engagement and Compliance (OPSEC) Division – a supportive, respectful, positive, and collaborative team with a culture of high integrity, responsiveness and accountability. OPSEC Division is responsible for a number of other functions, with a collective overarching focus on supporting schools with operational policy and compliance activities, reducing administrative and compliance burden for schools, and streamlining the volume and timing of communications to schools.
About the Role
This role will commence in December 2025.
The Digital Systems and Data Analyst will lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of digital platforms and reporting tools that support operational and strategic work across the Division. This includes managing a Salesforce-based case management system, building dashboards and reports in Power BI and Tableau, and integrating data across platforms such as SharePoint and Salesforce. The role requires advanced technical capability, including proficiency in DAX and Power Query M, and a strong understanding of relational databases and data visualisation.
A key focus of the role is driving system improvements—both in terms of user experience and reporting functionality. The analyst will work closely with team members and divisional leadership to identify inefficiencies, design innovative solutions, and deliver user support through 1:1 assistance, training sessions, and user documentation. The role also includes maintaining records, guidance materials, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) within a SharePoint environment, where SharePoint design experience is essential.
The School Compliance Support team provides expert guidance and practical support to government schools to help them meet the Minimum Standards for School Registration, including the Child Safe Standards. The team works closely with principals and school leaders to ensure they understand their obligations and are well-supported to achieve and maintain compliance. In the course of this work, the team may engage with sensitive and sometimes distressing information, including cases involving child abuse, sexual assault, and other serious breaches of child safety. A strong wellbeing culture and access to comprehensive support services are in place to ensure all team members are cared for and supported in managing this important work.
This role suits someone who is proactive, service-oriented, and committed to enabling others through technology and data. If you're passionate about making systems work better for people and turning data into actionable insights, we'd love to hear from you.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The role requires proven experience using Power BI, Power Automate, Tableau, Salesforce, and SharePoint, including proficiency in DAX and Power Query M. Strong skills in data analysis, reporting, and user support—such as delivering training and creating user guides—are essential.
