Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and statewide. We have a highly engaged, diverse and collaborative workforce that is unified by our goal to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives.
About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department
The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is part of the Allied Health division, which employs over 1,000 health professionals across 27 disciplines, broadly known as the therapies and sciences, who work as key members of the multidisciplinary team aiming to provide the best outcomes for patients via preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of healthcare conditions.
Our department has around 55 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs. We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education. Our work environment is vibrant and fast paced and we are a friendly and supportive team. We have many highly skilled and experienced dietitians who lead our clinical teams - specialist medicine, oncology, surgical/ICU/gastro, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute and ambulatory care, and portfolios - staff education, quality, research, student training, food service, nutrition support and workforce operations.
About the role
As Workforce Operations Lead for the Dietetics Department, your focus will be human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, rostering, staffing and workload allocation, leave management, payroll, staff wellbeing, and health and safety.
Key responsibilities include leading the Workforce Portfolio, coordinating with clinical stream leaders on staffing and workload matters, and overseeing casual and backfill staff, including training and allocation. In partnership with the Grade 4 Performance and Innovation lead, you will contribute to developing and implementing a digital health strategy aligned with Allied Health priorities.
You will collaborate with the Department Manager and Grade 4 dietitians on the Dietetics Executive Committee, contributing to strategic planning, quality, safety, teaching, research, and policy development. You will represent the department on the Allied Health Strategic Workforce committee and the Health, Safety & Wellness Committee. This role is 32 hours per week across four or five days, with a minimum of two days at Austin and one at Heidelberg Repatriation. Start time must be no later than 8:45 am.
