About the role
As the Deputy Director of Pharmacy (Clinical), you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a portfolio of clinical pharmacy services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred care.
Working closely with pharmacy and multidisciplinary leaders, you will oversee service delivery, workforce planning and clinical operations while driving continuous improvement and innovation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for leading and developing high-performing teams, supporting workforce capability, and contributing to the achievement of the Pharmacy Department's strategic priorities and The Royal Melbourne Hospital's broader organisational goals.
Key Accountabilities
- Leading and overseeing clinical pharmacy services across RMH to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care.
- Driving the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative clinical pharmacy models of care.
- Leading and supporting a large team of pharmacists across multiple clinical areas.
- Fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Leading workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning and professional development initiatives.
- Building strong partnerships with medical, nursing and allied health leaders to optimise care delivery and patient outcomes.
- Supporting pharmacy research, education, training and quality improvement programs.
- Contributing to organisational priorities, strategic planning and health service transformation initiatives.
About You
You are a respected clinical leader with a strong track record of advancing pharmacy practice and developing high-performing teams, and bring:
- Registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Extensive hospital pharmacy experience (minimum 8 years), including leadership and management responsibility.
- Demonstrated success leading clinical pharmacy services, workforce development and service improvement initiatives.
- Strong strategic thinking, change management and service development capabilities, with the ability to translate strategy into operational outcomes.
- A commitment to patient-centred care, medication safety, quality improvement and the advancement of clinical pharmacy practice.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a proven ability to build effective partnerships across multidisciplinary teams.
