An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Office of the Secretary as a Departmental Liaison Officer (DLO) at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Office of the Secretary supports the Secretary's leadership of DPC and the VPS. The Office also manages the DLOs for the PPO and other portfolio Ministerial Offices, including the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples.
Departmental Liaison Officer's are public service employees appointed and employed by departments and allocated to a particular Minister's Office (MO). DLOs provide a central point of contact and facilitate strong communication, efficient and effective flow of information and advice, and a cooperative working relationship between the department and the Minister and their office. DLOs work in a complex environment to support the Minister in their liaison with the department by managing the flow of information, advice and documents and are the interface between the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) MO and will gain an insight into the development of public policy at the most senior levels.
As the Departmental Liaison Officer you will have the opportunity to see first-hand the functioning of Cabinet, Parliament and Executive Government, and will come to better understand DPC's role in our system of government.
The role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, first class coordination and administration skills and be comfortable engaging with senior executives. You will also have demonstrated ability to exercise judgement under pressure, understand the importance of regular communication and are self-sufficient and value working autonomously.
