The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Data Analyst to provide a critical role at Corporate Strategy and Delivery.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (department) provides a range of government programs and services which focus on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.
Corporate Strategy and Delivery (CSD) supports the Secretary to lead and manage the responsibilities and statutory requirements of the department. CSD leads key whole of department functions, including corporate functions, delivery of the department's data insights, analytics and modelling function, savings and organisational transformation. It also provides oversight of the department's strategic and operational performance, with a focus on using data to inform system strategy, advice to Government and operational oversight.
Evidence and Insights is tasked with supporting the Chief Operating Officer in leading the department's agenda in the delivery of justice and community safety services in Victoria by providing a strong evidence base for the development of effective policy and effective organisational management.
About the Role
A Data Analyst is sought to work in a team focused on data products and insights. The team supports the broader Evidence and Insights' work by delivering cross cutting priorities including the:
The data analyst is responsible for interrogating large datasets to diagnose data quality or interpretation issues (including in consultation with data owners), completing data and analytics requests and supporting the development of regular products such as dashboards and automated reports. Working as part of the team the analyst will also contribute to team planning and documentation for internal briefing and public reporting.
The successful applicant will be required to adhere to data security and privacy policies and may be required to obtain a negative vetting 1 security clearance.
