ROLE SUMMARY:
The Critical Assets Support Officer plays a vital role in supporting the development, preparation, refurbishment, and delivery of operational fleet assets and equipment across VICSES. This role assists the Manager Assets and Critical Assets Manager in the end-to-end asset lifecycle, including procurement support, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of induction processes for volunteers and staff.
The position also leads refurbishment activities for operational assets, including vehicle inspections, scope development, coordination of repairs, and liaison with third-party suppliers. It involves preparing new assets for operational deployment, conducting on-site handovers, supporting compliance with regulatory obligations, and ensuring assets are safe, fit for purpose, and aligned with VICSES operational requirements.
This is a non-operational role that requires strong organisational skills, technical understanding, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. The role frequently involves travel across the state, including regular overnight stays, to attend workshops, taskforces, and asset handovers at VICSES volunteer units.
WHO WE ARE:
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
