The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Corrections Court Liaison Officer to provide a critical role within Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service (CAPS) Central Unit.
About the Business Unit
Justice Services is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures offenders are safely and securely managed and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Community Operations and Parole is responsible for providing central end-to-end oversight of the CCS service system and includes the Parole Central Unit, CCS Practice Development and Review Branch, Statewide Community Work and Partnerships team, Offender Management Development Branch, CAPS Central Unit and the Adult Parole Board Secretariat. CCS review and investigation activities, monitoring and reporting and a suite of operational projects are also functions undertaken within Community Operations and Parole.
This position sits within the CAPS Central Unit which supports and monitors the CAPS in Victoria and is responsible for ensuring consistent standards and practices of CAPS are set and strategically monitored to build the confidence in the judiciary in the service and ensure quality, compliance and continuous improvement. The CAPS Central Unit is responsible for the development of practice guidance supporting the delivery of CAPS functions across the State and all Court jurisdictions and for coordinating matters on behalf of CCS in the Higher Courts and with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. The CAPS Central Unit provides operational support for CCS, prisons and courts, court liaison services, training, incident management and advice.
About the Role
The Corrections Court Liaison Officer will provide high-level support to the Manager of CAPS Central Unit and direct supervision of a Project Officer. The Corrections Court Liaison Officer will require high level stakeholder management skills and experience in CAPS, capability to work in a highly regulated environment, and an ability to represent Justice Services in a range of internal, interdepartmental, and external agency committees, forums and conferences.
