VicHealth is Victoria's health promotion & prevention agency. Our purpose is to prevent chronic disease and improve health and wellbeing for all Victorians, with a focus on communities facing the greatest barriers to good health. We know health starts long before healthcare, shaped by the conditions in which people live, learn, work and play. For over three decades, we've worked alongside communities, government and partners across Victoria to change these conditions, guided by a belief in equity, community agency and a fairer future for generations to come.
VicHealth welcomes and values applications from candidates who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, candidates with culturally diverse backgrounds, candidates with disability and those from the LGBTQIA+ community. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
When considering applying, please note that the Victorian Government has accepted the recommendation to integrate VicHealth into the Department of Health. Our important prevention work continues, including the delivery of programs, partnerships and funding rounds, as we await further information. Please visit our website for information.
About the role
We're looking for a curious, driven communications all-rounder to join VicHealth as Coordinator, Social Marketing & Communications (SM&C).
This hands on role sits within our External Communications team while working across our wider SM&C group to help bring VicHealth's work to life. You will be involved in writing content, shaping messages, supporting campaigns, events, digital channels, earned media and reporting on what's working.
What you'll do
- Write and create. Develop clear, engaging content for different audiences, purposes and channels, from social posts and web copy to campaign and event content.
- Shape the story. Help develop and adapt messages for different audiences and think about how communications work together across channels.
- Get things moving. Support communications projects, campaigns and events, working with colleagues across SM&C and the wider organisation to deliver great work.
- Find out what works. Pull together and analyse communications and campaign data, coordinate monthly reporting and help turn insights into better communications.
- Be a great team player. Provide practical and administrative support across SM&C, take initiative and pitch in as priorities change.
What you'll bring
- Professional experience in communications, marketing or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills and the ability to make complex information clear, interesting and relevant to different audiences.
- Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to learn.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and follow work through.
- An interest in audiences, data and what makes communications effective.
- Experience across digital, social media, web, email, campaigns or media is welcome. You don't need to be an expert in everything - we're interested in what you can bring and what you're ready to learn.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Closing Date: Wednesday, 14 October 2026
