CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.
About Department:
The Community Nursing Service at Central Gippsland Health delivers high-quality, person-centred care across Wellington Shire, supporting people to remain healthy, independent and living well within their own communities. The service encompasses District Nursing, Community Palliative Care, Diabetes Education, Continence Services, Cancer Care Nursing and other specialised community health programs.
The Continence Service is an integral part of the Community Nursing Team and is primarily delivered through outpatient clinics based at Central Gippsland Health in Sale, with outreach and consultation provided where clinically appropriate. The service is dedicated to promoting, restoring and maintaining continence, improving quality of life and empowering consumers through evidence-based assessment, education, treatment and support.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across hospital, community and primary care settings, the Continence Service plays a vital role in delivering integrated, person-centred care that aligns with Central Gippsland Health's vision of providing high-quality healthcare for our community.
About the Role:
The Continence Nurse Consultant – Community Nursing is responsible for leading the delivery of a high-quality, evidence-based continence service for the Wellington community. Primarily delivered through an outpatient clinic model, the role provides expert assessment, diagnosis, management, education and support for consumers experiencing bladder, bowel and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Working as part of the broader Community Nursing Team, the Continence Nurse Consultant provides professional leadership and specialist clinical expertise while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, general practitioners, residential aged care facilities and community service providers to ensure coordinated, person-centred care.
The role also supports the ongoing development of continence knowledge across Central Gippsland Health by providing clinical advice, education and mentorship to staff, contributing to the development of clinical procedures, and promoting best practice in continence assessment and management. The Continence Nurse Consultant plays an important leadership role in advancing quality improvement initiatives and upholding the vision, values and strategic objectives of Central Gippsland Health.
