About the role
We are seeking a suitably experienced Consultation Liaison Nurse (CLN) for this exciting role, who will act as a liaison point between Mental Health Services and the Acute medical settings across South West Healthcare. The position will provide timely mental health assessment, risk management and treatment planning when a consumer is an inpatient within a general unit.
The CLN aims to improve outcomes in patient care from a mental health perspective through working directly with patients and indirectly through increasing the capacity of staff to recognise and attend to the mental health needs of patients in these settings.

- Employment Type: Full -time (80 hours per fortnight) with a monthly ADO, On-going position
- Location: Warrnambool Campus
- Classification: Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4
- Salary Range: $112,465.60 - $121,113.20 pro rata, plus superannuation
What you bring
- Appropriate registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse. The applicant must hold a post graduate diploma in psychiatric/mental health nursing or have completed a specialist undergraduate Mental Health Nursing program and working towards a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or a specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a division 3 Nurse.
- Demonstrated skills and broad experience in mental health clinical services. Experience in triage, crisis and comprehensive assessments or related activities. Knowledge of relevant mental health clinical techniques and specialist interventions in complex cases. Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues within the general acute health care setting.
- Expert knowledge of relevant legislation, in particular the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (MHWA 2022), and current knowledge of both national and state directions in the delivery of mental health services. Comprehensive knowledge of current mental health, Guardianship & Administration and Children & Young Person's legislation.
- Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills; demonstrated ability to balance competing and at times conflictual demands. Ability to critically think and evaluate issues; ability to effectively problem solve.
- A working knowledge of both Recovery Orientated Practices and Trauma Informed Care. The ability to provide leadership regarding mental health assessments and interventions in the general hospital.
- Experience in the provision and delivery of education and training to non-mental health educated clinicians on an individual or group basis within the hospital setting.
