About Department
CGHS treats approximately 12,000 acute inpatients and 17,000 Emergency Department patients per year. It provides general surgical, medical, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, dentistry, endoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy and paediatric services with visiting sub-specialty services including urology, vascular, ENT, paediatric surgery, upper GI surgery and IVF. There is a Critical Care Unit that provides ventilation and haemofiltration. Surgical services are supported by both specialist and general practitioner anaesthetists.
About the role
To provide specialist O&G services based at CGH Sale and outreach services as required. Provide leadership for junior medical staff, midwives and nurses to improve quality of care through participation in continuing education, peer review and CGH clinical governance activities; and to promote seamless operation of the service through engagement via the O&G clinical group.
Duties
Initiating and being responsible for the clinical care of obstetric and gynaecological patients; including inpatients, antenatal clinic, emergency department and other areas of CGH. Support the implementation of the CGH Maternity Services Plan including development of a woman-centred model of care based on the National Childbirth Association guidelines and informed by women in consultation with other stakeholders. Providing clinical leadership within the unit, working collaboratively with other clinicians and senior nursing, midwifery and allied health staff.
