About the role
As a Conservation Officer - French Island, you will support the delivery of on-ground conservation programs across French Island, with a particular focus on the Feral Cat Eradication Program. You will undertake a mix of field and project support activities including camera monitoring and maintenance work, data collection and management, wildlife management, trap maintenance, pest animal and weed control and reporting.
Working closely with colleagues, contractors and community stakeholders, you'll help coordinate and deliver day-to-day project activities while ensuring works are completed safely and in line with approved procedures. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Victoria's most ambitious conservation initiatives while building hands-on experience in conservation and land management.
About the Team
You will be part of the Greater Melbourne Region Conservation Team, a diverse group of conservation professionals delivering biodiversity and environmental programs across Greater Melbourne. On French Island, you'll work within a small, dedicated team focused on feral cat eradication and broader conservation work on the island, while drawing on the support and expertise of the broader Parks Victoria conservation network.
