Join a team that protects more than just heritage—our work ensures the safety and security of every person, place, and collection across our precincts.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Security Operations Center (SOC), this Concierge Security role uniquely combines security responsibilities with exceptional customer service. The successful applicant will be well-versed in the layout and details of the assigned spaces, providing visitors with engaging experiences and informative answers about Museums Victoria's exhibits, artifacts, and facilities—all while maintaining rigorous security standards.

- Customer Service: Provide a high standard of visitor engagement, offering accurate information about exhibitions, programs, and facilities, while supporting ticket sales and customer satisfaction.
- Incident Reporting: Log and communicate incidents clearly and promptly through the SOC system, maintaining thorough documentation and supporting investigations where needed.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with SOC staff to track team locations, coordinate emergency responses, and maintain situational awareness across the site.
- Emergency Response: Respond swiftly and effectively to emergency situations, supporting evacuations, administering first aid, and assisting visitors and colleagues during incidents.
- Incident Response Teams: Work closely with or as a part of the Museums Incident Response Team (IRT)
- General Operations Support: Assist with opening and closing duties, facilitate technical or delivery-related activities, and perform security sweeps.
The successful applicant will have:
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with a diverse range of visitors.
- A calm and composed approach in high-pressure situations, with demonstrated capability in managing emergencies and responding effectively.
- Proficiency in using security software, surveillance systems, and incident reporting tools, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information securely.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with people in a meaningful way, creating positive, informative, and memorable visitor experiences.
- Previous experience in a security role, ideally within a customer-facing or public environment such as a museum, gallery, or event space.
- Certificates II Security Operations, current First Aid and CPR certification, and a valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
-
Willingness to undergo and successfully pass a National Police Records Check and a Working with Children Check (at the applicant's expense).
