THE ROLE
The Compliance Officer plays a key role in delivering the Victorian Social Services Regulator's functions under the Social Services Regulation Act 2021 (the Act) and regulatory frameworks.
Working in Regulatory Compliance, Child Safeguarding Branch this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the CSS by organisations without a sector specific co-regulator. The Compliance Officer will undertake a range of regulatory responsibilities including operating under a risk-based framework while managing an active case load, undertaking compliance assessments and inspections to develop, propose and deliver compliance case strategies and actions. The role may use a range of education, compliance and enforcement tools when working with stakeholders or organisations.
The Compliance Officer works collaboratively with team members and may seek guidance and assistance from Senior members of the team to support the delivery of timely advice and action. The role also works with co-regulators on occasions.
This role is expected to have expertise in understanding and applying principles of risk-based regulation and to develop knowledge of the regulatory activities for which the Child Safeguarding Branch is responsible. This position involves the handling of challenging and confronting materials.
The Compliance Officer reports to a Senior Compliance Officer and may work directly with other senior staff.
