About the opportunity
The Communications Coordinator provides strategic communications advice and support to the organisation. They have a lead role in the day-to-day management of WorkSafe's intranet and other digital communications channels, undertake a range of communications projects independently, and also support the Manager Corporate & Internal Communications and Advisors in the team to source, write and design content; develop communications strategies; and identify improvements to traditional and digital communication channels.
Key accountabilities
- Lead daily content administration of WorkSafe's SharePoint intranet. Includes timely response to stakeholder requests; proactively, source, write, edit, publish and/or update corporate news and content; adhere to intranet guidelines and accessibility standards; and responsible for making independent decisions around featured news, content and structure.
- Resolving and escalating intranet service issues, and ongoing development of guidelines and new intranet features.
- Provide independent, tailored training and support to a network of intranet content authors across WorkSafe, ensuring consistency and adherence to intranet content and style guidelines.
- Lead the design and distribution of WorkSafe's internal weekly newsletter to all staff in a timely manner, using editorial judgement to make content decisions and continuously improve processes and functionality.
- Lead the development and implementation of internal communication plans, programs and campaigns that support WorkSafe's strategic direction and business priorities.
- Use specialist software and follow established processes to plan, design, and schedule fresh content across WorkSafe's internal digital communications channels, including 75+ digital signs across WorkSafe's offices as well as lock screens campaigns.
- Under the direction of the manager, research and write clear and engaging speeches and presentations to support WorkSafe leaders and representatives at internal and external events.
- Use knowledge of best practice communications to simplify complex information into Plain English, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders in support of content recommendations.

Your advanced communication, influencing and negotiation skills, paired with your excellent interpersonal skills, enable you to build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Ability to understand a high level communications strategy and implement tactical communications supported by key messages and an appropriate mix of communications channels and activities.
- Strong digital and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues or messages clearly, simply and effectively to a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to actively maintain knowledge of emerging communication techniques and approaches and seek to implement these where appropriate.
- Strong skills and knowledge in using SharePoint intranets.
- Experience using MailChimp and in-house design software like Canva, Adobe.
- Video production skills would also be viewed favourably.
- Tertiary qualification in PR or Communications (or related field) preferred
