About the role
The role of clinical Haematologist is to deliver safe, patient centred, evidence based and efficient care for Haematology.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Excellence & Inpatient Care: Provide expert consultant-level management for inpatient and outpatient Haematology services, including direct bed-card management and a responsive internal referral service.
- Strategic Service Delivery: Lead the clinical team in daily ward MDMs and discharge planning, ensuring the use of interim orders and criteria-led discharge to optimize patient flow and access.
- Patient-Centred Care: Deliver evidence-based, integrated care, ensuring patients and families are fully informed and empowered to make collaborative treatment decisions.
- Clinical Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise and develop Junior Medical Officers and Advanced Trainees, fostering a culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and high-level communication across multidisciplinary teams.
- Collaborative Liaison: Maintain strong professional links with the Emergency Department and external community partners to ensure seamless, safe transitions of care and timely patient admission.
- Operational Accountability: Oversee clinical documentation standards, including the accuracy and timeliness of discharge summaries and death certificates, while participating in the consultant on-call roster.
What we’re looking for
- A physician (FRACP or equivalent) with registration by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- You possess a genuine interest in developing and refining the Haematology service to meet the needs of the patient and their family, and the broader community
