Coleraine Primary School is set in well maintained, expansive grounds in the small rural community of Coleraine amidst the rolling hills of Western Victoria. The school runs three classrooms for 30-40 students. There is a shared community sporting facility and students have many opportunities to participate and compete in sporting events and programs.
The school and community are interdependent in many ways, and parents are found listening to students read, conducting special programs, coaching and supporting sporting teams, fund raising and on committees. Community members also donate their time to assist with the kitchen garden program, swimming program and other areas where expertise is required and valued.
Technology is used extensively in the school with all students in grades F-6 being provided with an iPad or laptop. Classrooms are spacious and extremely well resourced. The comprehensive curriculum has a strong focus on literacy and numeracy but aims to develop the whole child. We have been a SoundsWrite school since 2018 and the results speak for themselves, with our students¿ reading and writing outcomes amongst the best in Australia. We work to develop the strengths of each child with differentiated learning programs and offer new and varied opportunities for students to extend themselves.
Coleraine Primary School is a resource smart primary school where there is a focus on energy saving and care for the environment.
We are proudly a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Team. Students have the opportunity to engage in regular Kitchen and Garden experiences, learning about growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing delicious and nutritious food in a modern and well equipped kitchen.
The staff is experienced and willing to share their expertise and work as a coherent team. The staff work closely with the other small schools in clusters and the network to improve their own learning and students outcomes, and professional development is encouraged.
At Coleraine Primary School our mission is to provide a safe environment that promotes respect and lifelong learning where people are striving to do their best. We believe education is the shared responsibility of the student, home, school and community.
Together we learn.
