Guthridge Primary School is located in Sale, Gippsland, and is approximately 220 km east of Melbourne.
Enrolments in 2026 will be approximately 280 with a Student Family Occupation and Education (SFOE) index of 0.5070. Our classes comprising of Foundation-support, Foundation, and a mix of composite classes from Grade 1 to Grade 6.
Our school has high expectations of all its students and aims to provide an opportunity for each of them to develop as learners, now and in the future.
Guthridge has a Foundation-support class specifically designed to support the transition from kindergarten to school for children who need a settling year of school, after a year at kindergarten.
We have superior facilities to support all students in all domains. Our purpose built Fitness Centre accommodates all forms of ball and racquet sports. Our Swimming Program operates in our own enclosed, heated swimming pool with qualified instructors. Our sporting facilities also include a synthetic sports field, complete with four lane running track and long jump pit. We have a football field and outdoor basketball, netball and down-ball courts for all ages.
Our students participate in Specialist classes in Art, Science, Physical Education and Swimming. Additionally, our school provides Instrumental Tuition (for senior students) and annually, a group of students participate in the Victorian State School Spectacular.
At Guthridge, we promote positive and purposeful play to build healthy bodies and healthy brains. There are numerous research studies linking active play and academic success. Students need to learn how to `play¿ just like academic aspects of education in order to develop in every way possible to be their best!
We offer a variety of play choices, offering many options and activities for students choose from at recess and lunch play times. Our supervised Play is the Way activities include dance, lego, box construction, ball sports, skipping, bat tennis, board games, down ball and chess club.

Guthridge Primary School has a well-established Program for Students with Disabilities. We use our Equity funding to provide additional supports and intervention to identified students with a philosophy of full inclusion in the classroom. Further to this, we have a well-established wellbeing team consisting of a Student Wellbeing Officer providing additional support to students and families three days a week, as well as highly experienced Education Support Staff providing Integration Aiding to identified students.
Additionally, the Department of Defence provide our school with funding to employ a Defence School Mentor to provide assistance and support to the children of Australian Defence Force members at our school.

An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
