THE ROLE
Child Protection Paralegal Officers perform a critical role in supporting the delivery of court-related services to Child Protection teams. Reporting to the Managing Principal Solicitor of the divisional child protection litigation team, you will be ideally co located within the Shepparton child protection office. Consideration to working from an alternative office location within the Goulburn Valley and Ovens Murray areas will be considered.
The role provides support to child protection practitioners across service delivery areas of Goulburn Valley and Ovens Murray and works alongside child protection practitioners and lawyers. You will provide wide ranging legal administrative and litigation support functions to assist child protection practitioners in the preparation of matters before the Family Division of the Children's Court of Victoria. This may include preparing and filing court documents, witness summons, communication with court registries, other legal professionals including Victoria Legal Aid and liaising with potential witnesses. Attention to detail and teamwork underpin success in this role as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.
