The Chief Inspector plays a key role in setting the strategic direction of the Earth Resources Regulator's compliance program for Victoria's earth resources sector. This includes ongoing review of the compliance strategy and operations, and the provision of high-level strategic expertise, advice and situational analysis to key stakeholders and senior executives on all immerging issues. Key elements of this role include ensuring that procedures, systems and practices are robust and uniform state-wide and that authority holders' compliance with the regulatory framework is met through education and enforcement. Working in partnership with co-regulators, the Chief Inspector will apply deep leadership to the compliance team, fostering a high performing, positive culture and provide competency-based development, optimising outcomes and capability.
About you
You are a well-regarded senior executive with extensive practical regulatory compliance experience, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and good practice utilising education and engagement within a risk-based regulation and enforcement environment. A natural and highly effective people leader, you are drawn to customer centric environments and are motivated to deliver solutions that exceed service expectations. With a high level of professional integrity and judgement, you naturally earn respect, trust and confidence from stakeholders and community alike. With a tertiary qualification in mining, chemical or civil engineering, geology, compliance, or a related field, you are energised by the opportunity to deliver impact in this vital regulatory and compliance role, ensuring Victoria's resources sector is safely and sustainability developed.
About the organisation

This is a fixed-term position available for a period of up to 5 years. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
