Hazel Glen College is located in the City of Whittlesea, one of Melbourne's fastest growing municipalities. Hazel Glen College has an active and integral role in the ongoing development of the Doreen community hub.
The College commenced at the beginning of the 2014 school year with 143 students.  Growth of the College was rapid, with the College growing to a current size of 2,200 students and 250 staff. 
During 2025, the College has transitioned to a Primary P-6 and Secondary 7-12 model. A Child Family Centre, comprising, kindergarten, extended day care, playgroups, intervention services, maternal health centre and various other community service groups, co-located on the school site, creates an exciting and innovative early childhood education precinct.

The Careers Practitioner will provide planned career development programs and activities informed by the Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework which support our students to gain the necessary skills, knowledge, behaviours and capabilities which lead to successful further educational opportunities, employment or training. Personal qualities of objectivity, sensitivity and integrity, along with strong levels of initiative, will be required. The appointee will have excellent communication skills.
Design and deliver classroom based Year 7-10 planned career development programs and activities informed by the Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework and which support students to gain the skills, knowledge, behaviours and capabilities to manage their careers throughout their life.
Facilitate the development of Career Action Plans for all Year 9 and 10 students, including EAL and Indigenous Year 7 - 10 students.
Provide individual careers counselling to all year 10 students prior to VCE/VCAL/VET subject selection and further education and training course selection.
Provide targeted support appropriate to student needs (in conjunction with the Head of School and Student Wellbeing Leader), if they are identified as being "at risk" of early leaving or not making a successful transition to further education, training or employment, as identified through school mapping process.
Undertaking a formal exit interview with any student leaving school before commencing Year 11 that includes:
Coordinate and maintain destination data on exiting Year 9 and 10 students.
Provide a one to one counselling service for students, parents, and the wider school community.
Develop and sustain quality record keeping practices.
Develop and maintain a relevant and current career service room/library.
Provide culturally aware career development programs and services for indigenous and EAL students.
Support the Senior School Assistant Principal and Head of Teaching and Learning with providing the career development needs of students with disabilities.
Develop students' skills in resume and cover letter writing and interview skills.
Participate in running school careers expos and activities.
Facilitate Year 10 work experience program, incorporating safe @work.
Coordinate and organise Pathway activities/speakers relevant to students' interest.
Assist in the delivery of information on all post compulsory options and VTAC selection system to the school community as part of the pathways team.
Maintain professional relationships with external training, education, employment and community organisations to provide diverse range of pathway options for students.
Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

SC1 Proven ability to develop, implement and lead a College Careers Pathway Plan for all students in Years 7-12
SC2 Proven ability to work effectively within a senior leadership team with highly developed communication and time mangement skills.
SC3 Previous experience with the implementation of the Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework.
SC4 Excellent organisation skills and previous experience in implementing a Year 10 work experience program
SC5 Proven experience in developing community partnership with local business and industry for future work placements and employment opportunities.
