Key Selection Criteria
Thank you for your interest in our ES1-5 Careers Leader position at Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College. We are seeking a high performing Careers Practitioner and Leader, who can work collaboratively and effectively to make a positive and significant contribution to the positive academic outcomes, career pathways and wellbeing of students and our community members.
Applicants are asked to note that whilst the position will be 0.6EFT (spread over 4 days each week) in 2026, the successful candidate will be required to increase to 0.8EFT in 2027 and to 1.0EFT (Full time) from 2028.
The Careers and Pathways Leader is responsible for the organisation and implementation of high-quality career education activities and counselling to ensure students have meaningful pathways. The Practitioner requires a sound understanding of young people's needs, detailed knowledge of education and employment pathways, and the capacity to work in and lead a team and independently to meet the varied accountabilities of the role.
The successful applicant must hold a careers qualification or be willing to complete the Graduate Certificate in Careers Education as outlined by the department. They will also have a commitment to promoting the school and working to enhance its public image.
The Careers Leader reports directly to our Deputy Principal (Years 10-12).

About our School:
Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College is a new school that opened in Werribee in January 2024. On opening Walcom Ngarrwa, welcomed 177 Year 7 students to the school community. Over the coming years, the school will add a new year level every year through until 2029, when we will have students from Year 7-12.

In 2025 our school community was made up of 440 students in total, across Year 7 & 8. Four percent of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 32 percent of students had English as an additional language. Our staff team comprised 1 Principal, 2 Assistant Principal, 3 Leading Teachers, 2 Learning Specialists, 21 Classroom Teachers, 2 Para Professionals, and 16 Education Support Staff.
In 2026 our student population will be approximately 700 students and we are excited to be delivering a Year 9 program for our students.
