Annual Leave
A full-time employee is entitled to 152 hours (20 days) annual leave in respect of each twelve months of service and accrues progressively during a year of service according to the employee's ordinary hours of work. Part-time employees receive annual leave entitlements on a pro rata basis calculated according to the time fraction worked.
Additional paid leave - education support class
A full-time education support class employee is entitled to 228 hours (30 days) additional paid leave in respect of each calendar year. Part-time employees receive additional paid leave entitlements on a pro rata basis calculated according to the time fraction worked.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Careers Education Curriculum
Ensure career development programs align with College priorities, curriculum expectations, and best-practice approaches to career education
Develop and embed a comprehensive careers curriculum across Years 7¿12, with authentic links to Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and Careers Education
Map, document and regularly review career development education across the Years 7¿12 curriculum
Support teachers to explicit teach engaging career lessons developed to align to our College¿s instructional model, suitable for embedding in Years 7¿12 curriculum
Integrate employability skills, career management competencies, and workplace readiness into curriculum programs and design relevant assessments
Work collaboratively across the College to support staff in the effective delivery of the Careers Education Framework, Work Education, and Pathways Planning programs
Collaborate with Domain Leaders to embed career education into curriculum and/or assessment where relevant
Career Support
Coordinate the delivery of a range of career support services across the school involving a range of work areas: careers counselling; Year 7 & 8 `Career Exploration¿; Year 9 `Career Insight¿ and Morrisby; Year 10 `Steps to Success¿ and work experience program; Year 11 and 12 career and pathways programs; VTAC, Equity Schemes and Scholarships; Career Action Plans, Subject and Course Counselling, case management of students at risk and transition from school exemptions and exits
Apply sound theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in developing best practice principles for the career education program, including the development, review and implementation of processes and policies
Undertake research and analysis within the careers and pathways portfolio, consistent with the school¿s objectives
Interpret and analyse data to inform and provide authoritative advice to the leadership team
Disburse current, valid, and reliable information in all practices, abiding by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA), school policy, child safe, Department of Education Structured Workplace Learning and Work Experience mandated rules, OHS protocols relating to Structured Workplace Learning and Work Experience, liaising with line management regarding queries, complaints and safety concerns, discrimination and Work Safe Insurance claims
Coordinate and support the team during the course counselling / subject selection process
Provide professional counselling services to students and record all interviews in electronic data base
Provide expertise and advice for students regarding options relating to careers, courses, pathways and vocations
Coordinate and undertake Career Action Plan interviewing with Year 9-12 students, including students in out of home care, indigenous students and students with additional needs
Develop and present career-based sessions to students via assemblies
Develop and present to parents/carers the objectives of the careers program at the College
Collaborate and liaise with the senior school team regularly, to improve the work-readiness of students
Coordinate and assist students with work placement opportunities
Develop links with agencies and oversee mock interviews
Connect `at risk¿ students to short courses, training and employment opportunities
Lead the careers and pathways team to deliver VTAC and pathway information on post-school options and undertake interviews with each Year 12 students
Oversee industry-based excursions, programs and guest speakers
Oversee the destination data, follow up tracking at 0 and 6 months after exit
Provide support and assistance to students who have exited (aged 15+) and follow up tracking to ensure they have remained engaged in an education setting, for 6 months after exit
Ensure knowledge and expertise are kept updated regarding career trends, workforce changes and job opportunities to assist students in gaining employment
Work with school leaders to review practices and make recommendations for future planning
Preparation of annual pathway report detailing exit destinations and tertiary offers for the leadership team
Partnerships
Work collaboratively with parents, wellbeing, administration, inclusion, leadership teams and external organisations to support students transitioning to further education, training or employment
Develop strong relationships with commercial partners, community organisations and the employment sector to benefit students
Provide expert advice and support to the school community on careers and pathways options
Networking
Attend outside agency meetings i.e., DVCEA network meetings, career practitioner seminars and conferences
Support and build links between the College and the tertiary institutions including through specific partnership programmes (e.g. Swinburne University)
Participate in Student Led Conferences, information evenings and course advice evenings for subject selection
Oversee and participate in various career events, including supporting the annual `Road to Success¿ Careers Expo
Liaise with the Headstart program to support students access to appropriate apprenticeships and traineeship pathway opportunities
Attend weekly team meetings
Attend relevant staff meetings
Promote careers and pathways via careers newsletters and social media posts
Attend regular meetings with senior leaders regarding student progress
Attend Student Support Group (SSG) meetings to discuss pathway options, as required
Other Duties
Participate in professional development and training to maintain the expected level of knowledge of current and best practice in the major areas of responsibility associated with the role
Develop and deliver professional development opportunities for the careers and pathways team
Liaise regularly with the VET/SBAT/SWL Coordinator and Headstart Coordinator
Meet regularly with the Student Services Leader to discuss the strategic direction of the careers and pathways program and contribute to the overarching Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan for the College
Undertake other duties related to the role as directed
