About the role
The role of Cardiothorasic Surgeon is to provide inpatient and outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgical Services to the Geelong Hospital, Barwon Health
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality Cardiothoracic surgical services across inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care for public and private patients.
Provide clinical leadership and collaboration, including consultative support to other departments, participation in after-hours rosters, and contribution to clinical standards and multidisciplinary care.
Maintain excellence in clinical governance and documentation, ensuring comprehensive communication, accurate medical records, participation in audit activities, and compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.
Contribute to teaching, research and medical education, including supervision of medical students, participation in clinical education programs, and involvement in research initiatives.
Promote quality, safety and professional standards, including adherence to OHS requirements, incident reporting, continuous professional development, and active participation in quality improvement activities
What we’re looking for
Medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Demonstrated post-fellowship experience as an independent Cardiothoracic Surgeon, with audited operative practice.
Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team
