About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Assurance, Knowledge and Executive Services Division (AKESD) provides a range of services across department including internal audit planning and delivery; supporting the Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO) performance audits and the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC); Cabinet and Parliament services, including board appointments and diversity on boards; Freedom of Information (FOI); ministerial services and portfolio services; privacy, Intellectual Property and Copyright, Knowledge and Records Management. The Executive and Ministerial branch is responsible for leading the department's support services for ministerial offices and managing freedom of information, and cabinet and parliament processes.
About the Role
The role of the Cabinet and Parliament Program Advisor is to provide support and advice to facilitate the implementation of the Government's Cabinet and legislative program, and the parliamentary program.
As part of a team, the Advisor will coordinate Cabinet and parliament program activities that support the department's ministers to participate at Cabinet meetings and in parliamentary sittings.
In undertaking this role, the Advisor will develop a deep understanding of the business systems that support implementation of the program; will engage with stakeholders and manage issues as they arise; represent the department at Cabinet/parliament related meetings; provide advice to departmental staff on policies and practices that support the Cabinet and parliament program; prepare program reports; prepare briefings; and develop and maintain appropriate guidance material to support the program.
