The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Business Support and Project Officerto provide a critical role at Commercial Services / Policy and Strategy.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria's purpose is to enhance community safety through the operation of safe and humane community corrections, adult prison and post-sentence systems that support reducing reoffending by delivering on the fundamentals of good order and control in prisons, a professional and skilled workforce, case management and programs and services that address the root causes of offending behaviour.
Commercial Services is a newly created division within Corrections Victoria that leads the provision of expert, strategic commercial management and advice. The division includes:
The Policy and Strategy division is responsible for developing legal and strategic policy advice on the custodial and community correctional system to improve outcomes for people in the corrections system, including Corrections Victoria's contributions to whole of government priorities.
Policy and Strategy is focused on system-wide strategic direction and system analysis to support evidence-informed policy, service design and investment decisions. Policy and Strategy also support Corrections Victoria to meet their core statutory obligations.
The Coordination and Governance team within Policy and Strategy leads coordination and governance activities with group-wide impacts, including Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC) preparation, parliamentary and Cabinet requests, risk and audit requirements, Whole of Victorian Government reporting, and internal communications.
About the Role
The Business Support and Project Officer is responsible for providing a range of high-quality business, project development and administrative support to the Executive Directors of Commercial Services and Policy and Strategy and the Divisions more broadly. This includes coordinating and providing input into work that supports parliamentary processes, information requests, recruitment processes and for the operational and strategic projects relating to the responsibilities of the Commercial Services and Policy and Strategy Divisions.
The role also includes supporting the smooth functioning of the Offices of the Executive Directors through diary management, meeting co-ordination, preparing a range of written material, and responding to a range of requests for support from across the Divisions and externally, as required.
The role will also actively strengthen and maintain relationships internally across Corrections as well as externally with program partners and stakeholders.
