The Business Manager is a key member of the School Leadership Team and is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the school¿s financial, human resources, administration, facilities and compliance functions.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Business Manager provides high-level advice and leadership to support effective decision-making across all operational areas of the school. The role ensures the efficient, compliant and strategic management of school resources to support improved student outcomes.
This is a highly influential leadership role requiring strong financial acumen, operational expertise and the ability to lead people, systems and processes in a dynamic school environment.
Lead the strategic and operational management of school business functions including finance, HR, administration, facilities, compliance and systems.
Contribute as a member of the School Leadership Team to strategic planning and school improvement priorities.
Provide high-level advice to the Principal and School Council on financial sustainability, workforce planning, risk and operational performance.
Lead school budgeting, forecasting and School Resource Package (SRP) management.
Oversee all financial operations including procurement, accounts, banking and reporting.
Ensure compliance with Department of Education financial policies, audit requirements and internal controls.
Provide financial advice to support effective resource allocation and decision-making.
Lead workforce planning including recruitment, onboarding and staffing compliance.
Oversee payroll processes and staffing administration in line with Department requirements.
Lead and support Education Support and administration teams including performance development and workload management.
Provide advice on staffing structures and workforce planning.
Oversee school facilities, maintenance planning and asset management.
Manage the School Maintenance Plan and Asset Information Management System (AIMS).
Lead Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), emergency management and risk systems across the school.
Coordinate contractors, service providers and maintenance works ensuring compliance and safety.
Support capital works, refurbishment and facilities improvement projects in partnership with the Principal and VSBA.
Ensure compliance with essential safety measures and all relevant legislation.
Lead the administration team to ensure high-quality front office and operational services.
Oversee enrolments, student records, attendance systems and compliance processes.
Manage school operational systems, policies and procedures.
Oversee facility hire, contracts and service agreements.
Prepare reports and briefings for School Council and Finance Committee.
Support transparent governance through accurate reporting and operational advice.
Maintain strong relationships with families, community stakeholders and external agencies.
Ensure compliance with Department policies, legislation and audit requirements.
Lead risk management systems across all operational areas.
Drive continuous improvement in business systems, processes and efficiency.
Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability and service excellence.
