SC1 Sound knowledge of financial management legal requirements and practices including the capacity to produce reports and provide advice in respect to those reports.

A Business Manager role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.
Direction on targets and goals is provided bu the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.
Responsibilities
Ensure the provision of quality customer service and support to the school community and external stakeholders.
Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
Ensure that flexible and responsive administrative support is provided by the Education Support team in line with identified procedures as well as to meet ad hoc needs required by leadership.
Oversee the general administration of the school, including management of CASES21 and Compass platforms, processing of student admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers.
Provide administrative support for school events, functions and projects.
Financial Management
Provide leadership in strategic financial planning with a focus on enhancing the school's financial position and the clear and concise reporting to the Collect Council and sub-committees.
Manage and direct the preparation of annual budgets and regular financial statements and contribute to the financial decision making of the school and the shared senior program.
Provide leadership in directing the accounting processes of the school and partnership and ensure that proper financial practices and internal controls are always maintained in line with Treasury and Department of Education regulations.
Compile and monitor the Student Resource Package (SRP) online planner and provide advice to the principal in managing the workforce budget.
Provide advice to staff on spending against budget in respect to faculties, programs and other school projects.
Manage the parent payment process in accordance with DE policy.
Administer government grants and other school income.
Human Resources Management
Participate in the annual process to develop and implement the school's workforce plan and provide authoritative advice on recruitment policy and procedures, leave and other entitlements.
Manage the priorities and work practices of support staff to ensure an efficient and effective workflow across the administration offices of the school.
Assist in the development of work practices that ensure appropriate occupational health and safety standards are maintained.
Manage with a focus on best practice, the work practices and priorities, performance and development of education support staff to achieve the delivery of quality administrative and customer service to the school community.
Manage confidential storage and retrieval of all school documents including personnel, Workcover and payroll files.
Conduct regular team meeting and actively support educational support staff to reflect upon and improve their professional practice.
Support School Council
Provide standard CASES21 reports and additional documents to assist in the interpretation of financial reports and to convey a clear picture of the financial health of the school.
Draft documents and reports and make recommendations on financial and operational matters including the parent payment process.

Kyabram P-12 College is a co-educational school located approximately 200 km north of Melbourne, in the rural township of Kyabram on the western edge of the Goulburn Valley, midway between Echuca and Shepparton.
