A Business Manager role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.

Drysdale Primary School is situated on the Bellarine Peninsula, 25 minutes¿ drive from Geelong, and is a well-regarded primary school with a current enrolment of 388 students. The school was established in 1875 and has recently commemorated its 150 years. Its vision is to be a fully inclusive school providing the highest quality of education for each one of its students in their academic learning, their personal development and the development of their individual skills. Currently the school has three Prep classes, five Year 1/2 classes, five Year 3/4 classes and five Year 5/6 classes as well as four specialist programs (performing arts, art, physical education and Indonesian) with a staffing profile of Principal, Assistant Principal, Business Manager, 21 classroom teachers (including part time staff), 2 administrative staff and 22 classroom education support staff.

Education Support staff are trained to lead an Oral Language Program to support the literacy and phonological awareness development of students across the school, as well as having two tutors as part of the Tutor Learning Initiative.
