The school is seeking an experienced Business Manager to work in collaboration with the Principal Class. This person will work alongside the reception staff and the Assistant Business Manager in the office. This role holds significant accountability for budget management, resource planning, workforce administration, and financial reporting across the organisation. It plays a critical role in aligning school operations with departmental requirements, ensuring the school operates efficiently, ethically, and in the best interests of its students and community. They will also have financial oversight of the State Vision Resource Centre and work with the Disability Inclusion school leadership team as part of this team.
The position requires strong analytical and communication skills, a high level of professional judgement, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational demands of special school environment.

Heatherwood School is a proud government, co-educational secondary school for students with mild intellectual disabilities situated in Donvale in the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Established in 1958, the school draws from a wide geographical area with approximately 90% of all students transported to the school via school buses.
Catering to approximately 215 students from Year 7 to Year 12, the school is set on a school site that has recently experienced completion of a major build which now houses the middle school students . Further building works are due for completion later in 2026. Academic and social learning programs, include Advance initiative, Outdoor Education, Horticulture, Food Technology, Protective Behaviours and STEAM. There is a strong Camping program in addition to opportunities such as Work Experience which builds self¿esteem, confidence and resilience.
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), the school has established a range of Certificate courses including Certificates in Hospitality, Sport and Recreation, Agrifoods, Computer Technology and Retail.
