A Business Manager role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.

1.3 THE CONTEXT OF WANTIRNA SOUTH PRIMARY SCHOOL
Wantirna South Primary School, situated in the City of Knox has, for more than eighty years, successfully served its community. Over recent years, the enrolment of the school has remained stable at around 230 students. It is anticipated that the school population will remain stable and grow over the next three years. Wantirna South Primary School is fully committed to the welfare and educational progress of every student. The excellent learning and social environment established at the school are the result of teachers, leadership team and community working harmoniously to ensure every student is connected and has a sense of belonging to enjoy education that stimulates fulfilment in school-life.
The school is set in attractive and spacious grounds that feature a large grassed playing field, basketball/netball courts, junior and senior playgrounds, rebound walls, handball courts, shaded and passive recreation areas along with state of the art teaching and learning facilities. Buildings include four main classroom blocks, a well-equipped library, a canteen and the `Buzz Café attached to the school¿s multi-purpose hall/gymnasium and an arts/music complex.
The staff remains abreast of educational progress with pedagogical and technological methods through Professional development. They blend traditional methods of teaching with modern approaches. Specialist teachers provide programs for students in the visual Arts, Physical Education, Mandarin, Performing Arts with music, drama and dance. School Choir and Band, along with cooking in the Buzz Café.
