The Auburn High School Business Manager is a key member of the Executive Team and contributes to the strategic direction of the school, and the management of major portfolios that support the learning outcomes of students. The role involves the leadership and support of all staff members, and key stakeholders in the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as effective school administration, sound governance, high quality financial management and maximising physical and human resources.
Working within the scope of the School¿s strategic plan, direction on key deliverables will be provided and the Business Manager will be encouraged to show initiative in determining how they are achieved. Work will be guided by standard procedures and school policy and any deviation from this will require guidance, direction and collaboration within the Executive Team.
Management of Education Support staff across a variety of roles is a key responsibility. The Business Manager will be required to lead individuals and teams of staff to support students, learning outcomes, and the teaching staff. This includes a Human Resources Manager, Finance Manager, office staff, and a range of Education support staff that are included in all aspects of the school program.
The Business Manager is expected to provide timely reports and advice in matters relating to all aspects of their responsibilities where appropriate to discussions with Executive, School Council or in other teams.
The Business Manager is required to work 15 days during the School holidays, including five days in the lead up to the commencement of each school year. Other days are distributed as required during the term breaks.

A Business Manager role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.
