A Business Manager role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.

Rowville Primary School is situated on Paratea Drive, Rowville in the City of Knox. The school has an enrolment of approximately 410 students.
The Business Manager at Rowville Primary School works in collaboration with the senior staff and is responsible for the management and supervision of human resources, facilities, and other support services within the school. Reception staff, and a first aid collaborate with and support the work of the Business Manager and Principal class.
The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of office staff. In consultation with the Principal the Business Manager will establish work practices for support staff.
A feature of the position will be the provision of advice for school council and effective liaison on behalf of the school with the general school community and the Department of Education.
We are seeking an applicant who has had office administration experience in a school and is open to learning to work towards the leadership of an office professional learning team where they lead the professional learning of the office team. The level of renumeration of this position will reflect the experience of the successful applicant. The tasks performed by the Business Manager will be well defined and the successful applicant will be supported to develop professional networks for support with establishing timeline calendars and setting up management systems. The Business Manager may be required to decide which strategic option or solution to a particular problem should be adopted. Under delegation from the Principal, the Business Manager will be expected to have significant input into school business operations.
