The Role
The Business Adviser provides comprehensive business support and advice to the Office of the Chief Communications Officer and delivers an effective business management service, support and advice function for the broader Strategic Communications Branch.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of business improvement projects, workforce planning, work effectively as a member of a team and undertake a wide variety of work across the branch.

The Team
The position of Business Adviser forms part of the Strategic Communications Branch within the Office of the Secretary Group.
The Office of the Secretary provides high-level support to the Secretary in leading and managing the department's statutory responsibilities, strategic governance and ministerial commitments. It facilitates executive decision-making and cross-government coordination, oversees core departmental functions, and ensures delivery of key strategic initiatives.
Strategic Communications is responsible for building the department's reputation and delivering on the DJSIR purpose by raising the profile of key initiatives, investments and programs. The Branch delivers communications policy and governance, media pipelines, communications strategy and issues management, corporate communications support (including internal, corporate and emergency communications), and selected communications services on a cost recovery basis.
About You
You will use your initiative and leadership by being proactive and self-starting, taking responsibility for your actions and managing problems or roadblocks independently. You will apply well-developed organisational and planning skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and support branch operations and business functions in a collaborative manner to achieve the objectives of the branch.
