Help lead technical advice, shape regulatory outcomes, and drive excellence across Victoria's Building industry.
The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's new regulator for building and plumbing. It brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation.
Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation will come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance. These services will now be a part of the BPC and will be fully integrated over the next 12 months. The OSBS is the main source of technical expertise for industry and practitioners in Victoria. From February 2024, the Building Legislation Amendment Act 2023 established the State Building Surveyor as a statutory appointment with a range of additional functions and powers to strengthen its significance and effectiveness.
To reinforce the function of the BPC and support the increased leadership team an opportunity has come up for Manager, Technical Services, technical advice and guidance.
About the Role
The Building Surveyor, Technical Services (Advice and Guidance or Training and Education) role provides expert technical advice in the delivery of State Building Surveyor functions, with a focus on the delivery of technical advice, guidance, training and education.
The role will contribute to the continuous improvement of building standards and compliance in Victoria through the provision of advice, guidance, education and training material. The role is also instrumental in providing technical advice and guidance to the Victorian Building Authority in carrying out their legislative functions.
Reporting to the Manager, this role will support the implementation and/or ongoing delivery of nominated projects to achieve the BPC's strategic goals and responsibilities under the Building Act.
