The purpose of the Budget Analyst role is to provide and assist in budgetary advice and analysis on the Department's internal and external budget and to coordinate, prepare and manage a range of budget and financial reporting requirements. The role may include assisting with schools reporting for ACARA and bilateral agreement, as well as for National Schools Statistics Collection for Reporting of Government Services (RoGS).
Working in the Strategic Budget Analysis and Reporting (SBAR) internal team this position involves monitoring the Department's financial performance, which includes monthly variance analysis of actuals performance vs. budget, preparation of budget journals and reconciliations. It also involves supporting the senior members within the team with the production of the monthly Budget Management Report, the Annual Mid-Year Review and Internal Budget process, other ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requirements. This role has a strong technical, data and analytical focus, with the ideal candidate applying their strong Excel skills with consolidated reporting requirements.
Additionally, this role will provide opportunities to support and assist the senior analyst responsible for schools reporting for ACARA and the bilateral agreement of the Better and Fairer School Agreement as well as being involved with the National Schools Statistics Collection for REporting of Government Services (RoGS) data and analysis.
This would be a fantastic learning and development opportunity for someone with a finance and accounting background working in a finance role in the corporate finance or other Departmental divisions who would like to gain exposure to financial management in a central corporate environment, or to someone with general finance experience who would like to develop their budget reporting and analysis skills.
