About the Role
As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will support the effective provision of patient care and provide leadership to nursing staff in the areas of patient welfare, comfort, hygiene and transport, ensuring quality patient outcomes are achieved and maintained.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
• Delivering consumer-centred care aligned with best practice standards and Barwon Health requirements
• Providing high-quality patient care using an evidence-based approach
• Participating in regular audit processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies
• Taking a leadership role in strategic and day-to-day operational matters, supported by well-developed problem-solving skills
• Demonstrating a sound level of nursing expertise and acting as a role model of clinical competence
• Applying strong knowledge of team dynamics and supporting a cohesive, high-performing team

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities across the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the Gastroenterology Ward
Birdsey Wing 7 is a 16-bed ward encompassing gastroenterology and general medicine. Staff are highly skilled, professional, friendly and dedicated, taking pride in providing high-quality, safe care. The ward is located at University Hospital Geelong in the heart of central Geelong, minutes from the waterfront and a short drive to some of Australia’s best beaches.
