The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

About the Role
The Honourable Justice Waller is seeking a legally qualified person to be his Associate commencing in mid to late January 2026. The date will be confirmed in the application process.
Justice Waller manages and hears a wide variety of commercial and corporations matters within the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria including claims relating to contract, equity and trusts, shareholder disputes, group proceedings, injunctive relief and urgent duty judge matters.
You should have an excellent academic record and research skills, a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in commercial law. You should be able to communicate and write clearly and concisely with strong attention to detail.
The Commercial Court has judge-managed lists so you will require an ability to manage work in chambers whilst juggling a variety of administrative demands. You will possess commendable time management and organisational skills and will be able to liaise in an efficient, courteous and professional manner with members of the legal profession, the Court, and the public.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience across the Commercial Court and closely observe the work of a judge and counsel.
