The Supreme Court of Victoria (the ‘Court') is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.
Judges in the Court are supported by associates who assist in the management and coordination of the Judge's judicial, ceremonial, court management, administrative and legal research responsibilities.
About the role
Justice Walker is seeking a legally qualified individual to be her associate commencing in mid 2027. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in civil and criminal appellate work in the Court of Appeal division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, and to closely observe the work of advocates and the judiciary.

The role requires a high degree of sensitivity and professionalism as you will be working closely with judicial officers, court staff, legal practitioners and members of the public.
About you
The successful applicant must be admitted to legal practice; 12 to 18 months post‑admission experience is desirable but not essential. Excellent research, writing and typing skills, proficiency in grammar and a strong academic record are essential. One or more of: experience on the editorial committee of a university law journal; mooting; research work for an academic; and/or a higher degree in law, are preferred but not essential.
