Role Context
The Assistant Principal - Transition & Operations leads the implementation of key systems and programs that enable the College to function effectively while improving student outcomes and post-school success. The role ensures that whole-school operations, subject selection, careers and pathways, VIT and PTT support, timetabling and calendar planning work in harmony with the College's vision for learning and development.
This role directly supports Goal 1 of the School Strategic Plan 2025-2029: Maximise learning outcomes for every student. It does so by ensuring the school's operational structures are aligned with VTLM 2.0, and by building teacher capacity in collaboration with the Assistant Principal - Staff Development to deliver effective learning environments and support structures.
This role also contributes to the implementation of KIS 2b: Implement a whole-school approach to student transitions, ensuring that transitions from enrolment to graduation are supported through consistent and connected systems and interventions. Furthermore, it supports other Key Improvement Strategies by enhancing operational efficiency, improving staff preparedness, and enabling data-informed decision-making, particularly around student support and course counselling.
The role works collaboratively with the College's leadership teams to plan and deliver key transition experiences, from enrolment into Year 10 to post-school pathways. It plays a vital role in the development of the timetable, management of Compass systems, staffing coordination, and the calendar of college events. It also oversees critical processes related to professional compliance (VIT), OHS requirements (EduSafe Plus), and the administrative systems that support school-wide effectiveness.
Develop and oversee a whole-school approach to subject selection and course counselling, ensuring students are guided to make informed decisions aligned with their goals and strengths.
Ensure counselling processes include multiple data points (academic, attendance, aspirations) and are responsive to individual student needs and pathways.
Work collaboratively with Domains, Wellbeing and Pathways staff to ensure subject offerings and course choices reflect student demand and systemic priorities.
Oversee the delivery of a comprehensive, inclusive and aspirational Careers Education program from Years 10-12.
Coordinate key initiatives and requirements, including Work Experience, Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), Victorian Pathways Certificate, VET, and Head Start.
Ensure Careers Education aligns with a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) approach, with targeted supports for priority cohorts and individual pathway planning.
Lead the coordination of curriculum design and delivery for Additional Curriculum programs, including mentor/pastoral care sessions and careers education.
Collaborate with other portfolios and key staff to ensure programs are consistent, purposeful, and support student development, engagement and pathway readiness.
This role oversees and supports the following college programs and responsibilities:
Student Transitions from enrolment to graduation, including into and between all year levels (9-12) and into post-school destinations.
Subject Selection and course counselling processes across Year 10-12.
Careers Education including Work Experience, VET, SWL and career planning.
Professional Registrations including VIT induction/mentoring, full registration, and Permission to Teach processes.
Timetabling, Staffing & Calendar Planning to ensure smooth operations and appropriate resource allocation.
Compass Operations and systems for daily functions, reporting and parent engagement.
OHS & Risk Management aligned with EduSafe Plus expectations.
Additional Curriculum including curriculum coordination for mentor, pastoral and careers education programs.

Tarneit Senior College - `Integrity, Innovation & Focus'
Tarneit Senior College is located in a developing area of Wyndham, approximately 25 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. We are located next to one of our main feeder schools - Tarneit P-9 College while also accepting enrolments from a number of other primary and P-9 schools including Baden Powell College, Truganina P-9 College and Doherty's Creek P-9. Significant enrolment also comes from new families moving into Tarneit with Wyndham being one of the top growth corridors in Australia. The school is situated near a number of areas of significant urban development which will see continued enrolments over the next 5 - 10 years of families moving into the area. In 2026 we expect to have approximately 850 students enrolled, and the projected enrolments is for the school to stabilise around this number in the next few years.
