The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to join the Complex Classification Unit, where you'll help shape critical placement and sentence management decisions for some of the most complex individuals in custody.
The Sentence Management Division plays a vital role in Corrections Victoria by ensuring people in custody are placed in the most appropriate environment throughout their sentence. Balancing community safety, security, rehabilitation and operational needs, the Division oversees sentence planning and placement decisions that support the safe and effective management of Victoria's correctional system.
Within the Division, the Complex Classification Unit specialises in managing individuals who present high-risk, high-profile or complex needs. The team works across prisons and Community Correctional Services, providing expert advice and oversight to support informed decision-making and reduce risk across the system.
About the Role
As the Assistant Manager, Complex Classification, you'll play a key role in assessing and managing some of the most complex individuals in Victoria's correctional system and contribute to critical decisions that support community safety and the effective operation of correctional facilities. Working within a highly specialised team, you will be responsible for the assessment, classification, sentence planning and sentence management of people identified with complex classification needs, with a focus on people accommodated in restricted prison environments, and mainstream/protection environments as required.
Based in Ravenhall, this role offers the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across Corrections Victoria and will involve travel to correctional facilities throughout the state.
