The Applied Fire Scientist – Reconstructions is an exciting opportunity to work in a small, enthusiastic team of applied fire researchers to develop bushfire reconstructions and case studies, a process of understanding and learning from bushfires. In this role you will work with a strong team of fire agency staff and researchers to analyse and document the weather, fire behaviour and chronology of bushfires and undertake analysis of suppression operations and planned burning interactions. You will also work closely with practitioners to ensure these lessons learnt are effectively shared and embedded into decision making to help shape the future of bushfire management.
In this role, your technical fire knowledge and an understanding of scientific process will be important skills to developing the bushfire reconstructions and your project management and collaboration skills will ensure the work is delivered using the range of expertise across the fire agencies and research institutions.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2027. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
