Investment and Technology leads and manages the investment lifecycle; drives commercial advice & negotiations to facilitate reform; and enables core delivery through Finance, Procurement & Enterprise Technology.
Enterprise Technology is a Division of the Investment and Technology Group, which defines investment strategy and delivers commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes within the department.
The Service Operations branch in Enterprise Technology focuses on delivering IT services that unite people, processes, and systems to form an integrated, high-performing and efficient Department of Transport. The team thrives on working collaboratively with its stakeholders to achieve exceptional results for the department..
About the role
The Application Support Consultant plays a key role in supporting and managing core business applications, including but not limited to CabX and eBriefings. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of applications through:
• Providing effective customer service, application support and resolving incidents as per the subject service level agreements.
• Managing release cycles and changes to deliver upgrades, patches, and new features with minimal disruption.
• Overseeing application administration, including configuration, access, and security.
• Conducting capacity and performance management to ensure scalability and reliability.
The position works closely with cloud platform teams to maintain and enhance application environments, while also collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to address issues, deliver solutions, and provide an excellent user experience.
We are seeking a proactive professional with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues and apply innovative digital and technological solutions that enhance service delivery. The ideal candidate will have expertise in incident, application, and release management, and demonstrate resilience and collaboration in supporting continuous improvement and effective team outcomes.

Position accountabilities
– Support release management, change management, and administration of the department’s applications.
– Perform admin functions like user onboarding/offboarding, license management, setting user permissions, workflows, creating and managing support tickets, incident triage, test case management, document and record management.
– Support business by leading and performing activities related to Machinery of Government changes, organisational restructures and maintain organisational system configurations.
– Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of applications.
– Monitor and optimise resources for performance and cost efficiency.
– Work with project teams to support design and deployment of new features and changes.
– Serve as a technical advisor for clients, providing guidance on best practices and strategic direction.
– Collaborate with other team members, including platform owners, Architects, and Business Analysts.
– Automate deployment and management processes using Azure DevOps and other tools.
– Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while collaborating with vendors as required, ensuring effective customer service and support.
Qualifications and experience
– Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent (mandatory)
– Working knowledge of cloud platforms, (Azure and SharePoint) (mandatory)
– ITIL (desirable)
