About the Role
Attention all local Physiotherapy students!
The Physiotherapy Department at GV Health is currently recruiting for Undergraduate Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) to join our team in a casual capacity, at our Graham St campus. These are dedicated AHA roles specifically for Physiotherapy students whilst they are studying and/or completing their clinical placements. We have a large team consisting of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists and Allied Health Assistants, who are responsible for providing services to the acute & subacute wards, and also the outpatient and community services.
The AHA may assist the Physiotherapy team to deliver client centred services across different areas of the hospital and in the community. The role involves completing a variety of direct and indirect clinical and administrative tasks. The AHA may assist a client to complete an exercise program, or activity of daily living, assist with facilitating a group program, order, clean and manage deliver of equipment and assist with the co-ordination of resources required for health professionals and clients.
The AHA will work within the Physiotherapy Department but occasionally may work or be delegated appropriate tasks under the direction of other Allied Health Professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians and Social Workers. AHAs are integral to the delivery of services across the Physiotherapy Department and inpatient environments. This position, amongst others is responsible for promoting GV Health as a quality regional health service provider.
We are a large team and involve our Allied Health Assistants in our education and competency program for their ongoing learning and upskilling to the hospital environment. We will also offer to pair you up with a suitable Physiotherapy mentor, who can check-in with you as you continue in your course and eventually transition to working as a Physiotherapist in future.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn and grow in the public hospital environment and to contribute to our welcoming and dynamic team.
You will work at a Grade 1 or Grade 2 level depending on whether you have completed a sufficient number of clinical placement hours, but all year levels are welcome to apply.
This role is not suitable for international candidate sponsorship. Candidates seeking sponsorship are encouraged to consider other roles currently advertising at GV Health or contact [email protected]
