The Alliance Legal Lead will provide direct support to the Head of Legal, Land and Infrastructure and the Deputy Director Legal – Rail and Infrastructure with the leadership and management of all legal matters associated with the three SRLA alliance packages.
The role will lead and direct a team of two Managing Principal Lawyers, the Alliance Legal Lead will be responsible for supporting and guiding the team to minimise risk and the management of complex rail and infrastructure legal matters. The role is a full time 3 year fixed term contract.
Key Accountabilities
Provide key support to the Head of Legal, Land and Infrastructure and the Deputy Director, Legal – Rail and Infrastructure and the broader project legal team in the provision of legal, commercial and risk management advice and activities in relation to all aspects of project planning, development and delivery for the three SRL alliances.
Manage and coordinate certain legal aspects of SRLA’s procurement activities, development of tender and contractual documentation and other commercial and/or legal agreements where required to facilitate the delivery of SRLA’s alliances.
Support the Head of Legal, Land and Infrastructure and the Deputy Director, Legal – Rail and Infrastructure in developing and coordinating SRLA’s internal alliance legal teams and management of external legal resources.
Interface with SRLA’s external legal advisors to ensure a consistent approach is taken on legal positions which supports SRLA’s expectations.
Provide detailed advice to SRLA alliance project teams and the Head of Legal, Land and Infrastructure and the Deputy Director, Legal – Rail and Infrastructure on general project implementation issues, including matters relating to legislation, land, utilities and matters of public law.
Develop and draft strategies, preparation of briefs and provision of ad hoc legal advice to achieve desired outcomes within SRLA’s budget and agreed timeframes.
Build strong, collaborative relationships and competently influence or negotiate with relevant stakeholders so that SRLA’s objectives are met.
Develop and nurture constructive relationships with DoT, the Office of the Director-General, Government agencies, the private sector and other key stakeholders in the management of legal activities.
