The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Adviser, Assurance, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement to provide a critical role within Emergency Management Victoria.
About the Business Unit
Emergency Management Victoria
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, is responsible for the overall coordination of the emergency management system in Victoria. EMV drives the integration of policy, strategy, operational coordination, sector specific technology, and planning across Victoria's emergency management sector, contributing to safer, more resilient communities.
EMV works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The organisation is led by the Deputy Secretary & Chief Executive, and Emergency Management Commissioner, and includes oversight of statutory entities and offices and the department's emergency management accountabilities.
Recovery Strategy and Policy
The Recovery Strategy and Policy branch leads the development of effective strategies and policies to support relief and recovery efforts across Victoria. The branch collaborates with Emergency Management Victoria, government agencies, not-for-profit organisations, and the community and business sectors to coordinate and enhance relief and recovery initiatives that foster safer, more resilient communities. It achieves this by providing strategic advice to government and senior leaders on relief and recovery policies, embedding continuous improvement processes, managing donations coordination, and ensuring government investments and initiatives meet community needs and sector outcomes. Additionally, the branch oversees the implementation of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements on behalf of Victoria, ensuring the state maximises cost-sharing of relief and recovery programs with the Commonwealth government under these arrangements.
About the Role
The Advisor, Assurance, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement will provide high quality policy and strategy advice, as well as contributing to recovery policy and program development activities within the Recovery Strategy and Policy branch. The role will monitor and review recovery outcomes against state recovery plans and implementation of actions resulting from EMV evaluations, and report against these.
