What you'll do
This is an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional to join the Victorian Public Sector Commission (VPSC) in a vital advisory role that supports First Nations workforce development. As part of the First Peoples Workforce and Cultural Capability branch, you will contribute to the delivery of Barring Djinang - the Victorian public sector's First Peoples' Workforce Development Strategy - and provide cultural expertise to shape broader Commission strategies. You'll play a key part in advancing self-determination, truth-telling, Treaty processes, and improved outcomes for First Nations communities within the public sector.
In this role, you'll work closely with First Nations stakeholders, public sector departments, agencies and entities, and VPSC leadership to drive culturally informed employment initiatives and promote inclusive, respectful workplace practices. You'll also prepare high-level briefings, support collaborative project delivery, and ensure cultural insight informs policy and practice across the sector. This role is ideal for someone with strong project management and communication skills, and a deep understanding of the issues affecting First Nations communities- particularly in the employment and career development space. You'll have strong project delivery skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government departments, and colleagues across the Commission. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships, share knowledge, and contribute to a values-driven and culturally informed team environment. Experience working with First Nations communities and organisations is highly regarded, as is a relevant qualification in a related field.
