About the role:
The Administrative Officer is part of a small team of specialists, led by the Manager, Procurement Strategy and Policy.
The Procurement Strategy and Policy unit is responsible for leading expert advice in relation to procurement strategy and policy, including the implementation, development, monitoring and reporting of procurement policies and strategies. The unit also manages procurement governance frameworks for the department, and manages the Secretariat function for the Procurement Committee.
The Administrative Officer will support the department's goods and services procurement governance framework through the provision of advice, support and assistance with the implementation, management and monitoring of key procurement policy frameworks and associated reporting, to drive efficiencies and improvements in procurement.
This role will also have the opportunity to support future initiatives, efficiencies, capabilities and technologies to improve procurement and compliance within the department, and will lead the administrative support for the Procurement Committee Secretariat.

The Department of Health is seeking an organised and proactive Administrative Officer to support procurement activities that help deliver essential services across Victoria's health system. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work, supporting efficient processes and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
In this position, you will prepare a range of written materials, including briefs, letters, reports and procurement documentation, ensuring all communication is clear, accurate and fit for purpose. You will contribute to problem solving by gathering relevant information, consulting with stakeholders and analysing issues from different perspectives to propose practical, workable solutions. You will also support the implementation of improvements and help monitor their effectiveness.
A strong grasp of systems thinking will assist you in understanding how procurement processes connect to broader organisational activities, priorities and constraints. You will identify trends and opportunities to strengthen procurement practices and maintain awareness of internal and external factors that influence the Department's work. Understanding organisational context will be essential as you navigate formal and informal decision-making processes, appreciate legal and governance requirements, and recognise the varying needs and interests of different groups.
Success in this role also relies on effective self-management. You will be open to feedback, use new insights to strengthen your performance, and maintain professionalism in a dynamic environment. The ability to manag e your own reactions, stay focused under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities will be key.
