About Family Healthcare Support
The RCH Family Healthcare Support Team provide trained workers to care for children with medical complexity at home. This provision allows parents of children who require frequent medical interventions the time to rest and attend to other responsibilities. Support shifts are provided for eligible children known to the RCH Complex Care Hub or through NDIS FUNDING. Workers are based throughout the state of Victoria and provide care to children in their local area. This remote workforce is coordinated through a central team onsite at the RCH.
Family Healthcare shifts are provided by a trained support worker who undertakes child focused training and operates within strict parameters clearly documented in a child's specific care manual. Workers maintain a safe environment for the children they support, delivering all care required during the shift, including identifying and responding to predictable changes in care.
