About the Department
The Student Transport and Allowances Branch is responsible for managing the provision of transport assistance programs; the School Bus Program, Students with Disabilities Transport Program and the Conveyance Allowance Program, that assist students to travel to and from school.
Student Transport and Allowances Branch provides systems support and prompt and accurate policy responses to information needs from various stakeholders, including informed response to Government and Non-Government schools and Ministerial requests for information and correspondence. We deliver strong programs for schools, students and families and continue to look for opportunities to reform and deliver effective and cost-efficient programs in particular in preparation for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
About the Division
The Financial Services Division (FSD) is responsible for designing and implementing financial management principles, processes and systems to ensure that managers have the necessary support to execute their financial management responsibilities.
The division is responsible for establishing the appropriate financial management and assurance environment within schools, groups, regions and the Statutory Authorities.
FSD has a key role in supporting the 'second line of defence' through its oversight functions and also administers transport assistance programs that support students with access to education provision, and to participate in school-based activities through the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.
The division operates on three levels to fulfil its responsibilities:
operational level, to provide support and service delivery.
About the Role
The role will support the branch, with most activities within the team that manages the School Bus Program, including the Student Travel Assistance Portal.
